Michigan Tech was founded in 1885, and started as a school that training miners and metallurgical engineers during a mining boom. Today the school offers hundreds of degrees including a personal training program. This program has a strong science foundation focusing on biological sciences, chemistry, physics, and mathematics as well as core courses in exercise science.
